Breyer is the man. This book is probably one of the best CE textbooks on the market. Lots of worked problems & the book serves as a great reference for conceptual items that you might not pick up in school, such as “projected†loadings, diaphragm shear & miscellaneous ASCE code requirements. In addition, many of the concepts taught in this book can translate over to steel design, cold-formed metal, etc. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone, especially entry-level engineers just getting started in the world of structural design!
Used it to assist in design of a new roof for a house. So far, was able to take sample problems with solutions for fastener/connection design,create spreadsheets based on them, and verify solutions before plugging in numbers for my application. I expect it to be a valuable reference.
Excellent Book, is a Superb resource of information for those with no experience at all on Wood Structures.
This book is very good in covering basic subjects for designing, specially those for connections.

TEXT AND EQUATIONS IN THIS BOOK ARE GARBLED AND IN SEVERAL CASES COMPLETELY UNDECIPHERABLE. HAD I KNOWN THIS I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS BOOK. SHAME ON AMAZON FOR SELLING BOOKS THEY HAVE NOT PROOFED BEFORE PUBLISHING ELECTRONICALLY.
